If you’re a fan of the Grimm brothers fairy tales, you will want to see this play. While the latest edition published in 1857 had more than 200 fairy tales, “Into the Woods” focuses on four popular fairy tales: “Cinderella,” “Jack and the Beanstalk,” “Little Red Riding Hood” and “Rapunzel.” Of course, the plot is a variation of the original tales wherein the cursed baker and his wife embark on a journey into the woods. As they search for ways to reverse the curse, they meet Cinderella, Jack, Little Red and Rapunzel. The story grows into a twisted tale that forces you to the edge of your seat.

As with any form of art, the takeaway is the imitation of life and the lessons we learn. The duality of the characters such as the Narrator and Mysterious Man broadens the viewer’s perspective by showing the struggle between good and evil as well as right and wrong. It will be interesting to see GRT’s rendition presented by Director Christian Sanders,
