The Fort Belknap Living History Association will hold an afternoon of lectures June 11 about Civil Warera uniforms worn by Texans, and a type of party made fashionable by first lady Mary Todd Lincoln.

There is no charge for admission, and the event at the Olney Heritage Museum at 213 East Main Street is open to everyone. The lectures will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Lecturer Chris Holt will present his research on the Houston Depot, which supplied fabric that made sack coats worn by Texas Civil War troops, said James Hayes, president of Fort Belknap Living History Association, said.

The second half of the event will feature a lecture about the strawberry-and-cream parties held by Mrs. Lincoln and a sample of lemon ice cream from an 1850s recipe, Hayes said.

RSVPs to James Hayes, president of Fort Belknap Living History Association, at txclass@gmail.com are requested.
