Fringe Salon 13 Years Strong

Fringe Salon and Boutique, located at 207 S. Grand Avenue A in Olney, has certainly lived up to its name according to many of its patrons who have stated that Fringe Salon has proven to be unconventional when it comes to the overall atmosphere of a typical salon. When you walk into the shop, you’re greeted with a warm welcome by all stylists on duty—not just your stylist. It is a family-friendly environment “fringed” with an undeniable level of professionalism.

Fringe Salon started as a one-room salon that Jeromy and Amy Johnson opened in 2007.

“When my first son was born, we had the opportunity to buy the building and expand. Then we slowly added clothing and other stylists,” Amy said.

Jeromy and Amy grew up in Olney, and launching a business in their hometown seemed to be a natural progression. The salon is part of the legacy they are building for their three boys: Jameson, Isaac, and Maddox—ages 2, 4 and 11.

The salon offers a myriad of services provided by each of the five stylists: Amy Hughes, Kayla Glover, Leslie Acuna, Linda Wade, and owner Amy Johnson. With everything from hair coloring to stylish cuts, the owner is laser-focused on keeping the customers happy.

“On the hair side of things, we offer a variety of services such as wedding hair and makeup, balayage, glamour blonding, grey coverage hair coloring, waxing, and precision haircuts. That sums up most of what we do but are not limited to [just those services],” Amy said. “Each stylist has their expertise.”

While you are waiting, you may explore the unique clothing, handbags, and other products in the eclectic boutique located in the foyer.

“As for the boutique, we are constantly trying to introduce current looks with affordable pricing. We recently added the website and hope to keep improving in the online spectrum. The staff at Fringe really enjoy the boutique because it’s kind of the cherry on top! We like to offer the boutique as an extended service for everyone to feel good from head to toe,” Amy explained.

With the recent remodeling complete, the salon is open for business.

“We have freshly remodeled our salon to accommodate clients and stylists. We have wanted to do it for [a while]. We hope that our remodel will enhance our business and [allow us] to keep moving forward with the ever-changing demands of COVID,” Amy added.

Although COVID caused the shop to shut down temporarily, the staff remains positive about the future and shared gratitude for having the opportunity to work with “so many beautiful women.”

Amy said, “We are all optimistic and love that we are in a profession that has stood the test of time!”
