Freezin’ for a Reason Fundraiser

Although the organizers for the annual Freezin’ For A Reason golf tournament decided to postpone the Feb, 26 fundraiser because of inclement weather, Saturday, March 5, presented perfect weathter conditions for golfers who teed off at 10:30 a.m. to raise funds for local charities.

“We raised $11,000 that we will donate to other nonprofit organizations in our community, individuals in need and our scholarship fund,” said event organizer Katie Rowe, who worked alongside co-organizers Susan McElroy and Kalynn Philipp.

With 20 teams participating in this year’s fundraiser, Brennan Johnson, Stasha Calloway, Josh Espenhover and Kenneth Calloway emerged as the winners.

Rowe extended thanks to everyone for a successful event.

“Thank you so much for helping our organization’s fundraiser to be a huge success for another year. Freezin’ For A Reason would not be possible without the help of our wonderful community and beyond,” Rowe said.

“During the round, Brandon Everett donated his time by cooking the sausage and peppers for the players. Olney High School provided the after-round dinner, and it was delicious as usual. Kim Stephens and Phyllis Lee do a wonderful job every year with the meal.

We had shredded chicken sandwiches, corn, beans and cornbread.

The silent auction had great items up for bid. 3T Meats donated a cooler of meat that we raffled off. The music this year was provided by Race Ricketts. He put on a great show.”
