Food Drive just in time for the holidays

The Olney Chamber of Commerce’s annual Thanksgiving Food Drive was held from Oct. 15 through Nov. 15, 2019. The food drive was an all-around collaborative effort from everyone involved.

The community was asked to donate three to five non-perishable food items for a chance to win a $100 gift card donated by Brazos Communications. Food Drive partner and drop off locations were Brazos Communications, Olney Chamber of Commerce and Stewart’s Food Store. “Thanks to your generosity we collected more than 33 bags of groceries, which were donated to three local food banks here in Olney,” said Stacy Wade.  “Congratulations to Linda Gray winner of the $100 gift card.

“This is now the sixth year of the event,” said Wade. The Thanksgiving Food Drive has become an instant success since its arrival in 2014. The Chamber of Commerce, as well as Brazos Communications, and Stewart’s Food Store really look forward to this event every year now as a way to impact the community in a positive way. Every year, the number of bags donated reaches a new height—having 16 bags donated in 2016, now collected more than twice that amount with 33 bags collected in 2019, only three short years later.
