District attorney’s pleas for November, January

District Attorney Dee Peavy and her staff cleared dozens of cases from the 90th District Court docket with plea deals in November and January, including several involving Olney defendants.

In November, Ms. Peavy took plea agreements from the following Olney defendants: Alton Everett Smith, III, 35, pleaded guilty to burglary of a habitation and was sentenced to six years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice - Institutional Division, and ordered to pay $2,000 fine, restitution, and court costs; Mr. Smith also pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance, (methampetamine - one gram or more but less than four grams) and was sentenced to six years of community supervision, and ordered to pay restitution and court costs.

Christina Fern Fisher, 42, pleaded guilty to failure to comply with sex offender’s duty to register and was sentenced to five years of community supervision, and ordered to pay $250 fine and court costs; Ms. Fisher also pleaded guilty to a second count of failure to comply with sex offenders duty to register and was sentenced to five years of community supervision, and ordered to pay court costs.

Steven Daniel Green, 34, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine - four grams or more but less that 200 grams) and was sentenced to five years of community supervision, and ordered to pay $1,200 fine, restitution, and court costs.

Mr. Green also pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine - less than one gram), and was sentenced to five years of community supervision, and ordered to pay restitution and court costs.

Bryan Perrin Gray, 37, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine four grams or more but less than 200 grams), and was sentenced to five years of community supervision, and ordered to pay $1,500 fine and court costs; Mr. Gray also pleaded guilty to abandoning or endangering a child - criminal negligence, and was sentenced to five years of community supervision, and ordered to pay restitution and court costs; Mr. Gray also pleaded guilty to a second count of child abandonment or endangerment - criminal negligence, and was sentenced to five years of community supervision, and ordered to pay court costs.

Sadie Rosales, 36, pleaded guilty to abandoning or endangering a child - criminal negligence, and was sentenced to five years community supervision, and ordered to pay $500 fine and court costs.

James Wesley Wilson, 55, pleaded guilty to injury to a child, disabled or elderly person with intentional bodily injury, and was sentenced to five years of community supervision, and was ordered to pay $1,500 fine and court costs.

Brandon Louis Wimberly, 42, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine - less than one gram), and was sentenced to five years of community supervision, and ordered to pay restitution and court costs; Mr. Wimberly also pleaded guilty to forgery of a financial instrument, and was sentenced to five years of community supervision, and ordered to pay $2,500 fine, restitution, and court costs.

Nicholas Castro, 19, of Megargel pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance (tetrahydrocannabinol, less than one gram) and was sentenced to three years community service.

Mark Brandon Corwin, 43, pleaded guilty to illegal dumping of less than five pounds and was ordered to pay a $500 fine and court costs.

Rosanna Cruz Corwin, 44, pleaded guilty to illegal dumping of less than five pounds, and was ordered to pay a $500 fine and court costs.

In January, Ms. Peavy took pleas from the following Olney defendants: : J. C. Lewis, III, 43, of Newcastle pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine, one gram or more but less than four grams), and was sentenced to five years of confinement in Texas Department of Criminal Justice- Institutional Division, and ordered to pay $2,000 fine and court costs.

David Allen Crank, 36, of Newcastle pleaded guilty to failure to comply with a sex offender’s duty to register, and was sentenced to three years of confinement in Texas Department of Criminal Justice - Institutional Division, and ordered to pay $4,000 fine and court costs.

Anthony Franklin Smith, 46, pleaded guilty to evading arrest or detention with a previous conviction and was sentenced to three days of confinement in the Young County Jail, and ordered to pay court costs.
