Damaged water main lines mended Boil water notice lifted

The City of Olney issued a boil water order on Sunday after a break occurred along Highway 79. The order happened following low water pressure and other disruptions in water services to its customers throughout Olney.

After the problem was resolved on Sunday, another water break occurred after a contractor caused damage on South Avenue M. This also caused low water pressure and other disruptions to water services for its customers. “The original Boil Water Notice was given due to a loss of pressure and interruption in water service as a result of a break in an 8-inch water mainline” the City of Olney said in a press release.

“The second Boil Water Notice was given due to a loss of pressure and interruption in water service as a result of damage caused by a contractor in a 12-inch main water line. The City of Olney repaired the break and damage, restored adequate pressure and disinfectant levels, and performed bacteriological testing of the water from multiple points,” added in the release. “Testing indicated that no pathogens were present and that water from the City of Olney no longer needs to be boiled. If you have questions, contact the City of Olney or K.C. Blassingame at (940) 564-2102. If a customer wishes to reach the TCEQ they may reach out to them by phone.”
