County to close local roads
Three months after work was halted on repairs on three Olney roads, Young County is taking another crack at fixing stretches of Hall Road, Haggard Road and Olney Road, Precinct 3 Commissioner Stacey Rogers said.
In a letter to Precinct 3 residents, Mr. Rogers advised that stretches of the affected roadways would be closed, weather permitting, for road maintenance. He asked residents to “please be observant of road signs as [the] date [can] change.”
“The maintenance will require the closing of the road,” he added, asking for residents’ “understanding and cooperation during this project.”
While through traffic will be stopped during the maintenance project, residents can contact Mr. Rogers to make arrangements to come and go, he said.
In the meantime, County crews will shut those stretches of road on a daily basis rather than redirecting through traffic. The repairs will cost about $700,000 or $10 per square yard, Mr. Rogers said. The road surfaces will be chip sealed with a 12-inch base beneath it, meaning the existing streets will have to be dug down to an equal depth, he said.
Each residence should only experience full closure for a day. For the temporary incon- venience, residents will enjoy “a new driving surface,” he said in the letter. Mr. Rogers encouraged his constituents to contact him with questions at 940-564-0124, or to direct questions to Young County 911 Coordinator Harley Moore, at 940-549-7911.
