“Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus theLord, so walk in Him,”Colossians 2:6 NASBS

Brothers and sisters in Christ, may the grace of God continue to give us crucifying views of the cross of Jesus Christ. For this is a means by which the Holy Spirit shows us the effectual love of God. This leads us into the pathway of His sanctifying work, that is, conformity to His beloved Son, Jesus Christ. So then as the scriptures tell us, “As you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.” For every Christian has received the Spirit of God and His Spirit bears witness to our spirit that we are children and heirs of His heavenly kingdom. For this reason Christian, apart from holiness you will never be happy. Octavius Winslow wrote, “The experience of the true believer must testify to this. We are only happy as we are holy and as the body of sin is daily crucified, the power of the indwelling principle weakened, and the outward deportment more beautifully and closely corresponding to the example of Jesus. Let us not, then, look for a happy walk apart from a holy one.”

Saints of God, hold fast to the Lord Jesus Christ. Discipline yourself to be obedient to His word, even in what seems to be the smallest of all things, for He is your life, and when He is revealed on the last day, you will be revealed with Him. Seek high attainments of holiness and do not seek a low measure of grace to just get by. Do not pursue just enough Christianity to get you into heaven, trying to cling to the besetting sin that you covet. Away with such thinking, but you, mortify your fleshly desires, cutting them out of your life. Walk with Christ as a good soldier seeking to honor the Captain of your salvation. Do not be satisfied with anything other than what brings glory to God. Forget what is behind and reach forward to what lies ahead, press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Give great diligence to make your calling and election sure by feeding upon the word of God daily, for it is your life and by it you will prosper. Oh Lord, “Help me in my work to grow more humble, to pick something out of all providences to that end, to joy in thee, to keep my life, being, soul, and body only for thee, to carry my heart to thee in love and delight, to see all my grace in thee, coming from thee, to walk with thee in endearment.”
