Commissioner’s Court, July 13

Young County Commissioner’s Court held its first meeting of the month on July 13. The court began the meeting by discussing the June activity for the jail and the Sherriff ’s office. Followed by considering the treasures financial report and securities pledged. Next up was to discuss the auditors budget amendments and the payable vouchers. The court discussed an employee bond for Sharri Lynn Ashley, the assistant county auditor for 5,000 dollars.

The court extended agent requests for reimbursement for both Penny Berend and Savanna Williams. Tax resale deeds were then discussed and considered from PerdueBrandon-FielderCollins&Mott, 108, E. Grove, Olney Texas for a bid amount of $2,000--- and 1105 S. Ave. C, Olney, Texas for a bid amount of $1,000. The Texas Department of Transportation granted Young County a total of $562,350 through the CTIF program in exciting news for the county… with a maximum amount at local match of $140,587.50. This is something that will positively effect Olney, as many roads in the county and the city of Olney have been very difficult to drive on for quite some time… with this topic even being discussed the last few years at City Council. Bids were then requested for single coarse chip seal for several county roads.

The court discussed burn restrictions before quickly moving on to the budget workshop. The meeting was then adjourned. The next meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, July 27.
