The Coming King Foundation earns Travelers Choice Award
The Coming King Sculpture Prayer Garden in Kerrville, visited by many community members throughout the years, recently earned Trip advisor’s 2022 Travelers Choice Award. TripAdvisor, the world’s largest web-based travel adviser, categorized the garden in the top 10 percent of all tourist attractions worldwide. The Prayer Garden hosted more than 178,000 visitors in 2021 and its board of directors expects to top that attendance number this year.
The prayer garden showcases massive sculptures that honor God and are displayed among various flowers, water features and walking trails next to the Guadalupe River in Kerrville. Some of the favorite sculptures include “Fisher of Men,” which greets visitors at the park entrance. Artist and The Coming King Foundation board president Max Greiner sculpted the life-sized bronze sculpture and donated it to the park in 2012. Also, among the local favorites is the 70-ton steel sculpture “The Empty Cross.” Mr. Greiner created the cross based on the Bible verse, Matthew 28:6: “He is not here. He is risen just as He said.” The “Lion of Judah” is another favorite that has inspired enormous praise from visitors.
Mr. Greiner created the 11-foot, 1,134-pound bronze “Lion of Judah” sculpture and gifted it to the Jewish nation on behalf of American Christians. It was dedicated in Jerusalem June 1. The sculpture stands in front of the City walls in old Jerusalem as a symbol of friendship between Christians and Jewish citizens. Since the dedication, the sculpture has inspired a song by David Broussard, a Christian sculptor and musician.
“David immediately called me and sang his new song (with his guitar) over the phone,” Mr. Greiner said. “I was so impressed, I urged David to have the song professionally recorded. Later, David called me and said that he had asked other Christian music professionals in Dallas to professionally record the song with him, in a music studio.”
The Foundation is raising funds to produce the song professionally. Proceeds raised above the production costs will go toward projects at the prayer garden.
The park is free to the public and is open all year, and guided tours are available for groups of 10 or more. Call 830.928.7774 to request a tour. For more information and how you can support the nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, visit www.TheComingKingFoundation.org.
