City posts public works director position

The city of Olney is looking for a new director of public works after KC Blassingame left the post on Aug. 19, Interim City Administrator Arpegea Pagsuberon said. Mr. Blassingame held the post for about 34 years, since August of 1988, Ms. Pagsuberon said. “KC was a valued asset to the city,” she said. “He had a lot of knowledge, experience, and information. We appreciate all the hard work he gave to the city in the 34 years he was with us.”

City Water Superintendent Michael Jacoba is filling the post in the interim and has applied for the public works director position, she said. “Right now, he is wearing multiple hats. We have the position out for interviews and will probably be holding interviews next week,” Ms. Pagsuberon said on Sept. 8.

The public works director supervises a department of 11 employees, and is required to hold a dual license for water and wastewater treatment, she said. Mr. Jacoba holds a Class A license for water treatment and is working toward his wastewater treatment license, she said. The position has been posted on the Texas Municipal League website, tml.org. The salary for the new public works director is negotiable, she said.
