City Marks Municipal Clerks Week, May 3-9

The Olney City Council recognized Municipal Clerks Week during its April 27 meeting, formally honoring the work of city staff responsible for recordkeeping, elections, and day-to-day administrative functions.

Mayor Rue Rogers read a proclamation designating the week of May 3–9 as Municipal Clerks Week, noting that the profession is “essential to the functioning of local government… ensuring transparency, accountability, and the smooth operation of municipal services.”

The proclamation highlighted the role of municipal clerks as the city’s official record keep- ers, responsible for managing vital documents, conducting elections, and supporting the legislative process. It also emphasized their role as the link among citizens, governing bodies, and government agencies.

Mayor Rogers recognized city staff members Kathy Pearson, Cheyenne Frasier, Kimbra Merrick, Ashlyn Price, and Tammy Hourigan for their service, describing their work as demonstrating “exceptional dedication, professionalism, and integrity.”

Council members approved the proclamation unanimously, with Mayor Rogers thanking staff for going “above and beyond” in their roles.
