City Council votes …

The Olney City Council named Johnny Moore as a representative to the Municipal Airport Board at its Nov. 14 meeting.

The Council also unanimously approved a contract with Stephens & Myers of Graham for the services of City Attorney Bill Myers.

The Olney City Council voted to cancel its Nov. 28 meeting since it falls on the Monday after Thanksgiving. The Council will meet next on Dec. 12, barring a special-called meeting.

City Administrator Arpegea Pagsuberon said the city is testing a new water billing system that should go live by the end of November. City water customers may notice that their upcoming bill is smaller than normal because the transition to the new software required all meters to be read just two weeks into the billing cycle, she said. The December bill may be larger than normal because it will include two extra weeks in November, she said. The new city water bills also will look different: instead of a card, it will be mailed on trifold paper – allowing more space for information and notices, she said. The city also is transitioning to new billing software for permitting, code enforcement and the municipal court, she said.
