City Council postpones election until Nov. 9

City Council held their second meeting in the month of June on the 22nd. It was a shorter meeting that consisted of a variety of topics, beginning with a presentation by Honeywell, Inc. right after the invocation was given.

A public hearing was then held for a request for 170 S Avenue C from Residential (R-2) to Manufactured Home Park (MH). The request was given by the council, quickly considering if before moving on to item eight on the agenda, discussing the annual Audit Report that would be heard and ac cepted by the council.

Next up on the agenda at number nine was “Certify Cybersecurity Awareness Training Compliance in Accordance with HB 3834-Section 2054.5191 Texas Government Code,”.

The council considered the funding request from Keep Olney beautiful and accepted the request for the appropriate funds.

The council received its first draft for the 2020-2021 fiscal appropriations budget before moving on to discuss other council matters that were items of the concern to members of the city council.

The meeting was then adjourned. On a side note, due to COVID-19, the elections for upcoming city council positions as well as the election for the next potential Mayor, have been moved to November from the previous scheduled elections that were supposed to take place in May 2020. Rue Rogers is currently running unopposed in the election for the next Mayor of Olney, Texas. The next City Council meeting will be July 13 at 6 p.m.
