The Olney City Council awarded a four-year contract for maintaining the municipal airport infield to Jordan Haralson, provided he presented the council with a valid certificate of general liability insurance Mr. Haralson and Herb Bernhardt had each submitted bids to keep the 111-acre infield mowed and free of mesquite saplings. The Council was seeking a fouryear maintenance contract, which Mr. Haralson submitted Mr. Bernhardt submitted a one-year contract, City Administrator Arpegea Pagsuberon told the Council. Mr. Haralson proposed paying the City $500 in the second year of the contract, $800 in the third year, and $1,000 in the fourth year to allow him to grow hay on the land, she said. The Council expressed concern that whoever got the maintenance contract should carry a general liability insurance policy to cover any fire or damage to Air Tractor and privately owned planes at the airport.

“Do you take Jordan Haralson’s bid with the contingency that you see what his insurance is and if it doesn’t mesh then that may open it back up [to rebid the contract] but if everything’s good we can move on down the road and be done with it,” Mayor Rue Rogers said.
