Chamber’s Olney in America-June 30
The Olney Chamber of Commerce honors Small Town America at its Second Annual Olney in America Independence Day Celebration June 30 at the Olney Country Club. The event, which is free to the public, drew 1,500 people last year and the Chamber is hoping for a bigger crowd this year, and encourages attendees to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
The festivities begin directly after the Olney Fourth of July parade at 6 p.m. and runs until 9 p.m. The Olney Country Club is located at 1 Bankhead Drive.
The celebration features a fireworks display extravaganza, food trucks, merchandise vendors, concert performers and a children’s zone with games, bounce houses and face painting by Taylor Moore. The musical headliner will be Grady Spencer and the Work, sponsored by the Spirit of Texas Ranch. Race Ricketts, sponsored by Stewart’s Food Store, will open for Spencer. Parking duties will be handled by the Olney Volunteer Fire Department for $10, and VIP parking for $20. Handicap parking is available, as is transport from the parking lot to the entrance.
The Olney Fourth of July Parade will line up at North Avenue B and Main Street at 4:15 p.m. promptly and will kick off on its route to Tommy Perkins Park at 5 p.m. Fort Belknap Electric Cooperative is handing out awards at this year’s parade for Most Patriotic Pet, Most Patriotic Citizen and Best Decorated Float or Vehicle.
No outside alcohol is allowed. Public restrooms will be available, and law enforcement and medical emergency personnel will be on-site. Check out the Facebook page for Olney in America for a list of vendors, a schedule and advance payment for parking.
