Cemco in Vegas

A team from CEMCO, which makes cement batch plants in Olney, traveled to Las Vegas last week to show off the technology that helped created the launch site near Van Horn, Texas for Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin spaceship, as well as countless Amazon warehouses and pads for windmills in wind farms across Texas.

The CEMCO managers manned a booth at the CONEXPO- CO/AGG trade show, the largest international trade show for construction aggregates, and ready-mix concrete industries. CEMCO already has clients all over the world with some of its farthest-flung batch plants mak- ing concrete in Ghana, Venezuela, Ecuador Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands, said Sale Manager Justin Pieget.

The team brings CEMCO’s self-contained, self-erecting batch plants to the CONEXPO-CO/ AGG trade show every three years to stay in touch with existing customers, show off new features, and make new customers, Mr. Piaget said. This year’s new innovation for CEMCO is a central grease point on the batch plant, he said.

“It’s an international trade show, one where you’re able to get all our customers together in one place,” he said. “People come from all over the world to see the next innovative piece of equipment. We get to show off what we have and make sales. Overall, it’s probably one of our biggest sales points throughout the lifetime of CEMCO.”

CEMCO has had a busy few years, with growth strong and steady, even amid the COVID shutdown and supply chain problems afterward, Mr. Piaget said. “I would say this industry hasn’t been affected by the economy,” he said. “Everybody is really busy. No matter where they are in the United States, they seem to be busy.”

The CONEXPO-CON/AGG & IFPE 2023 Las Vegas featured more than 27 product categories and 1,800 exhibitors spread over 2.7 million square feet of exhibit space at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Sometimes referred to as “the heavy equipment expo,” the CONEXPO trade show takes place in Las Vegas every three years and is organized by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers. CONEXPO-CON/ AGG brings together contractors, materials producers, and government and institutional sector officials with experts who represent asphalt, concrete, aggregates, lifting, earthmoving, mining, utilities, and related industry segments.
