Car catches fire in accident on Texas 114

There was a crash on Texas Highway 114 east of Megargel involving a 2013 Nissan passenger vehicle at approximately 9:30 a.m., on Tuesday, July 12. Sergeant Dan Buesing with the Texas Department of Public Safety said that the car was driven by Allie Nicole Ferguson, 21, of Olney.

The vehicle driven by Ferguson was headed east bound on Highway 114.  Officials reported that an unidentified vehicle pulled out in front of Ferguson. She then had to swerve to avoid making contact, which made Ferguson’s car lose control and roll coming to rest on its passenger side. Ferguson was able to exit before the car caught fire. Ferguson was taken to a local hospital before EMS arrived on the scene. 

Ferguson’s injuries are not life threatening and DPS is investigating the crash.
