Boot Scootin’ at the Legion

The Olney Legion Post 414 recently held a dance to give the community of Olney a chance to socialize and have a night out. The dance was the brainchild of Post Commander Chris Garcia.

Chris Garcia also wore the hat of DJ for the night as well as DJ Rad Dad, which is the moniker he uses for his DJ business. DJ Rad Dad recently deejayed the Newcastle Prom. The evening included spirits from the bar, dancing and great company, entry was only five dollars.

The Olney Legion Post 414 used to be seen as a bit of a seedy place to be seen, due mostly from a few patrons who would get a little rowdy. The inside used to have a bit of a claustrophobic, dungeon-like feel to it, according to Mr. Garcia. After taking over as post commander, Mr. Garcia said he wanted to make changes both to the reputation and to the décor. He has transformed the Post into a place the community could gather and socialize over a drink or even non-alcoholic beverages. Garcia along with a brigade of volunteers including wife Heather, John Snyder, Katie Carls and many others completely remodeled the event room in the back of the Legion as well as many upgrades to the bar area up front.

Chris Garcia said the Post is ready to start renting out the event room to the community. The cost is $300, with $50 of that fee being a deposit. Garcia says they have plenty of chairs and tables as well. For more information please visit the post Facebook page at: American Legion Post 414, Olney Tx or call 940564-9383
