Artist honors Scouts with mural

Bailee Green has painted a large mural of a saluting scout on the wall of Cub Cleaners. The wall sits directly behind the Boy Scout Memorial that is dedicated to Scouts of Olney who reached the Eagle Scout rank. (Visit OlneyEnterprise.com to read about the Scout Memorial dedication.)

Green was commissioned to paint the mural by Keep Olney Beautiful (K.O.B). K.O.B. President Rue Rogers said, “Keep Olney Beautiful is thrilled to work with Bailee on the Eagle Scout mural. Bailee has a number of impressive murals in Graham, and we are excited to bring some of that to Olney. The mural itself completes the Eagle Scout Monument area, and will hopefully attract more people to stop and read the monument. The accomplishment of the 1970 troop is a National Record, and is something we as a community need to celebrate. This monument park adds more character to our downtown area, and brings some well-deserved recognition to an outstanding group.”

Green originally was studying forestry in college, but after finding so much success painting, she was able to put school on hold and begin paying off school loans. Green says she is right on the cusp of paying off all her student loans. Green is also a photographer and has photographed weddings, senior shoots and baby portraiture.

Green said, “I originally was doing chalk art around Graham while in high school for fun.” Graham Chamber of Commerce received so many great reports on Green’s chalk art that they chose her design to be painted on a wall in Graham.
