Archer City woman dead in motorcycle crash

An Archer City woman died on June 18 after crashing her motorcycle into a street sign outside Wichita Falls, the Texas Department of Public Safety said. Rachel Michelle Wingo, 71, was pronounced dead at the crash site by Justice of the Peace Judy Baker, about six miles southwest of Wichita Falls on Farm-to-Market Road 171, DPS said in a statement.

A preliminary investigation showed that Ms. Wingo “was traveling at an unsafe speed and failed to drive in a single lane, failing to negotiate a curve in the roadway,” the statement said. “[The motorcycle] left the roadway striking a roadway sign.

Ms. Wingo was driving a 2023 Kawasaki ZH2 motorcycle in clear and dry conditions, and was wearing a helmet, DPS said. She was pronounced dead at 5:20 p.m., the statement said.
