Activities at The Refuge educate and entertain children throughout summer

The Refuge has hosted multiple activities this summer.

They are partnering with Rolling Plains and are in their third year of being a sponsor site for the summer Feeding Program. A warm, nutritious meal is offered free to all children ages 6-18.

Penny Berend, from the Texas AgriLife Extension Office, has assisted the youth with starting two raised garden beds! The Red River Child Evangelism Fellowship group offered a five-day Club June 17 through June 21 with mission stories, Bible lessons, fun and games for ages 5-12.

Anne McQueen, the director of the after-school tutoring program, held two-day science camps where the children went over concepts that included, light reflection and refraction, circuit bugs and circuit flowers.

Summer Martial Arts are offered for ages 5 and up each Friday from 1:30p.m.-3:30 p.m.

The Refuge with First Baptist Church Olney is housing two full-time summer interns, Houston Arledge and Hunter Simmons, and part-time intern, Macy Nantz, who assist with the devotions, the summer feeding program and building relationships with the area youth through various activities.

Summer activities for the rest of the summer include the feeding program through Aug. 10, a math and reading camp, theater camp and various art nights.

The Refuge Board and Staff want to thank the community, for all the support, the prayers and the donations. We are thankful to the Lord for being so gracious to us and allowing us to serve in such a giving and loving community.
