Abilene Quilters’ Guild: 25th Stars Over Abilene Regional Quilt Show June 7 and 8
Do you love fabric? Do you love the way colors and patterns speak to you? Do you remember someone in your family spending time quilting and perhaps using as their fabric remnants of your clothes? If so, you will really enjoy the Abilene Quilters’ Guild 25th Stars Over Abilene Regional Quilt Show. The show will jog your creative side and you will go home wanting to try new patterns, notions, and fabric.
The show this year will continue to include vendors who will bring various types of quilting accessories, patterns, and fabric, plus just visiting with other quilters is an education in itself. Along with vendors, the quilt display is always fun and you will get to help judge your favorite quilt in the show. Demonstrations are always helpful in showing new techniques.
This year a featured project will be Quilts of Valor with a presentation at the show. Quilts of Valor is a national organization that gives quilts to veterans and/ or current military members. The foundation was established to “wrap military touched by war” and the quilts are made following specific parameters set by the foundation and made by quilt groups or individuals who are members of the foundation.
This year’s raffle quilt was made from a kit donated by a vendor at the 2018 Stars Over Abilene Regional Quilt Show and is made of bright batiks. Final proceeds from the ticket sales will benefit the Cancer Service Network.
If you find yourself hungry, the snack bar is just a few steps away and will feature the favorite chicken salad sandwiches as well as other food items for purchase. This year the kids will continue to have a scavenger hunt.
