17,392 Meals Served in Summer Feeding Program
This year, the Refuge and Rolling Plains Management Corporation (RPMC) collaborated to deliver 17,392 meals to more than 280 children in Olney and Megargel.
With the unexpected arrival of COVIID-19, it changed the way we were able to serve the meals for the Summer Food Program this year. This partnership would not have been successful without the assistance of Rodney and Kristy Nantz and their volunteers. They helped load and distribute meals at two locations in Olney and one location in Megargel. Leslie Carroll and her staff with Sharp Lines Transportation also assisted in the delivery of meals. Last, we cannot forget about the wonderful staff at the Olney Child Development Center and their center director, Laurie Hudson. They were the heart of this operation. They planned, prepared, and packed the meals for distribution every day.
Without the support and assistance of the Refuge, Olney Child Development Center and Sharp Lines Transportation, we would not have been able to provide a summer food program for those who need it most.
RPMC is proud to have been a part of this collaboration and appreciates each and every person for their hard work and determination. This was indeed a display of love for the Olney and Megar-gel communities We are also thankful for Young County and the families who participated and helped make it a success. RMPC is hopeful that the partnerships continue to provide this necessary service to the children of Young County.
