‘Who Are We?’
Who are we? First of all, we are who God made us to be. These days I am definitely grateful and very happy for the birthdays that have continued to come around each year. People are very kind to ask, “What do you do to take care of yourself?” My answer is, “Just the normal things.” But my very “scientific” answer is DNA!
We are who we are because of our parents and their parents! We can’t help it. My thoughts are that we can abuse our bodies (as many do), but overall we are who we are because God made us in our own unique way!
My dad was a smart man. He did not have an education, but was creative, and an inventor of sorts. He would get an idea, and would create a piece of equipment that usually worked!
I don’t remember any writers in my family. I do remember being in 3rd grade, and the teacher asked us to write a story. I thought about it, and had a great idea that my story would be a mystery with a surprise ending. I don’t remember what grade I received on that story, but it was a great story in my 3rd grade mind!
There have been several in my family who were artists. I guess my creative desires came down through my DNA. Through the years I have been involved in many creative activities. I loved sewing and designing clothes for my girls and myself. I learned to knit. I took up art and developed my craft to become a “Signature” member of several professional organizations.
I have a sweet friend who, on occasion, brings me beautiful bouquets of flowers. He is such a sweet young man—he is in 3rd grade! He is smart in academics, and he stays very busy as a creative writer. Where did he get that talent? It is in his DNA! His dad is a great writer and poet, so his youthful, creative writing comes naturally.
These days I continue to keep my brain busy. My word to you: use whatever God has given you.
Stay busy. Stay happy!
