Baseball vs Archer City

The Cubs topped Archer City in Olney on March 31 with a final score of 6-5. The boys were very focused and ready to take the win. Jordan Jacoba started the game with three fast outs, and the boys were able to get a quick lead on the Wildcats.

“Our defense was absolutely extraordinary early in the game, turning double plays, catching tough grounders, and running down fly balls. We were in a zone.” said Head Baseball Coach Caleb King.

Archer City came back in the final inning, which left the Cubs tied going into the bottom of the seventh. With Cole Turner on first base, King said the pitcher threw a terrible throw to first base. Turner took off, rounding second and third and got waved home.

As he slid into home plate, the ump shouted that he was safe. The run secured the Cubs a district win, putting them in position for playoffs.

“The effort shown by these Cubs was tremendous,” said King. “We are now in control of our own destiny seeking a playoff berth, and hopefully getting a Gold Ball!”
