OPD Seizes Meth During Traffic Stop
A routine traffic stop in Olney led to a significant drug seizure Wednesday morning after officers discovered 40 grams of methamphetamine hidden inside a vehicle.
Olney Police stopped Faith Louise Powell, 56, around 8 a.m. on July 16 after observing her commit a moving violation, Interim Chief Autumn Thames said.
Officers noted suspicious behavior during the stop and requested permission to search the vehicle, Chief Thames said. Ms. Powell consented, and the search revealed methamphetamine stored in an empty prescription pill bottle and 12 individual baggies concealed in a jewelry case.
Ms. Powell was arrested at the scene and charged with Manufacture/ Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a first-degree felony. According to Young County Jail records, she has several prior drug-related arrests in 2024.
She is currently being held in the Young County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.
“We want to thank our officers for their vigilance in keeping our roads and community safe,” Chief Thames said.
Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity to the Olney Police Department by calling (940) 276-2013.
