OHS Student Athletes Celebrate a Year of Success with Banquet and Awards

Olney High School athletes and coaches celebrated another year of successes and learning at the OHS Athletic Banquet on Monday, April 27 at The Refuge.

The event was catered by Big Luvs BBQ of Olney.

Of all the awards presented at the annual OHS Athletic Banquet, the Charlie Davis Award is the most prestigious.

The award is presented to the Lady Cub and Cub for exemplifying outstanding athletics and character on and off the field.

Charlie Davis had an amazing career in football from early on as an all-state and all-American pick for the Stamford Bulldogs in 1952 and 1953, All-American honors at McMurry College. He was a head football coach at Anson and Olney, defensive tackle in the National Football League; playing for the Steelers, Vikings, Cardinals and Oilers.

With so much experience in sports as a player and coach, Charlie Davis had a great deal of love for sports and wanted to create a scholarship and an award for student athletes who showed exceptional character on and off the field.

Congratulations on another year of great competition and more importantly great poise and sportsmanship on and off the field.
