Young County Commissioners voted Jan. 12 to designate a reinvestment zone for the proposed Tapaderos Solar Farm, clearing the first formal hurdle toward a tax abatement after a raucous public hearing in which residents pressed officials over land use, transparency, and whether the project would truly benefit the county.
After a six-year delay, the Olney City Council has taken a key step toward replacing the City’s century-old water treatment plant, approving a pilot program that will test new membrane technology on Olney’s water and move the long-stalled project closer to construction.
Plans to build new homes on long-vacant, city-owned lots in northeast Olney are beginning to emerge following last month’s approval of a tax increment reinvestment zone aimed at revitalizing one of the city’s most neglected areas.
The town of Chillicothe, Texas, flourished after the Fort Worth Denver Rail reached the community. Located on the rolling plains of Texas, it had sprung up around a creek and a ranch established in 1870.
