Thank You from Carol Vorel

This summer’s activities for children at the Olney Community Library and Arts Center has come to an end.  The theme this year was “A Universe of Stories.”  During the month of June, we explored the 50th anniversary of the Moon Landing with presenters and with Stories, Crafts, and Games days!

There are many people that make these  programs for the children a success that I would like to again thank. Thank you to all the children and families that came to the 41st Annual Pet Show on Tuesday, June 4 and the panel of adults associated with this event. Thank you to the ladies who read on Stories, Craft and Games day, specifically Carla Inge, Sami Greenhaw, Diane Ickert, Leatha Hirsch, and Cindy Moore. Thank you to Sabrina Laurent and Dale Lovett for sharing their expertise with the robot activities!

We had two great presenters come to the library; Bobby Curry with A ROO 4 U and Margaret Clauder as Astronomer Annie. Both were great and not to be missed. Thank you to OISD Building and Grounds, the library staff, and the Olney Enterprise for publishing our events. Thank you to Mallory Jeske who volunteered throughout June, as well as our summer library student aide, Anahi Marquez. Thank you especially to the parents, children, grandparents, babysitters and Olney Development Day Camp for coming to the library programs.

Finally, keep reading! The summer reading program continues until Friday, August 2 for the children. Reading participants will receive certificates and prizes--when school resumes--which will be distributed when students come with their teachers for story time, or adults will be contacted.

Be assured, there is “A Universe of Stories” at the Olney Community Library!
