As of today, sports are back in full swing with Major League Baseball beginning their season last week, and the NBA finishing up some last-minute scrimmages, will begin their regular season tomorrow. With sports back in the lives of so many people and fanatics, I had the chance to catch up with some diehard sports fanatics who are excited to have sports back in their lives. “MLB kicking it’s season today and NBA set to resume shortly after. It is almost like a light at the end of the tunnel for this pandemic.” said Dakota Key. Key is an entrepreneur who is a lifetime sports fan and most notably a diehard fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. His wife, Sadie Key, added that “with all the negativity we are living through today, some hope has been established with the start of Baseball season. A little sports therapy will do us all some good. “ Many sports fans believe this will be a time where we can begin to get back to normal life as much as we possibly can during this time, while also being able to give us a few hours out of the day to forget about everything that is going on in the world, just being able to enjoy something that has been missing in our lives for months.

“After several long, sportsless months we’ll finally be getting back into gear with several major sporting events. Not the least of which is the NBA. With this setting up to be one of the most unprecedented playoffs in history, we’ll see which team has what it takes to shake off the rust and stay focused enough to win an NBA title,” said Blake Prentice. Prentice is an avid NBA fan who is currently an accountant. Prentice has been an Oklahoma City Thunder fan since their inaugural season in 2008. “America’s pastime is finally back to save us. Proving truly to be the greatest game in our country,” said Tanner Black. Black is currently a baseball coach at Enid High School. Black went on to say that “This is what we needed. To have some sense of normality back in our lives.”

Not only does Sports being back fill a major void for all fanatics, but it also gives up to our community among other communities that we will be able to get back on track sooner rather than later. “So happy to have sports back on TV! I’ve watched enough chick flicks the last three months! “ said Corey Ganz. Ganz is currently an accountant and is a former college football player for Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Ganz gives us a comical but also a real-life perspective on what life has been like for some fans since the pandemic has begun. “It’s just one of the greatest feelings in the world. Sports is the constant thing that brings my friends and family together. Especially in times like these, it is most needed,” said Helmond Gwanyama, who is currently a pharmacy school student. Gwanyama shows you had vital sports truly are, being a beacon of light in a world that desperately needs it while at the same time, brings people together through these current challenges we face locally and nationally. The NBA regular season resumes Thursday, July 30 with each of the 22 teams remaining playing eight regular season games to determine seeding before the playoffs begin in mid-August. So far so good for Major League Baseball as there seems to be much parody in the early going. We will continue to update you on all sports...including the potential return of the NFL and NCAA football in August.
