A Solemn Plea
O Lord my God, Your love resounds throughout my life, even in seasons shadowed by doubts too deep to explain. When I look back, I see Your hand faithfully guiding my soul in the paths of righteousness. Truly, You are my God, and You sent Your Son, Jesus, to bear the wrath that was due to me, that I might be brought near to Your presence and behold Your glory.
To You alone, O Father, be all the glory. Thank You for opening my heart to receive the sacrifice of Christ—that through Him I have been adopted into Your family and welcomed into Your courts to worship You. On this basis alone am I justified in Your sight—not by any merit of my own, but by grace alone.
Your love, O Lord, surpasses all understanding. Its breadth is wider than the earth, deeper than the oceans You formed, and higher than the mountains that reach toward heaven. It is boundless and eternal. What is man that You take thought of him, or the son of man that You care for him? Yet You made Yourself lower than the angels for a time, that Your boundless grace might flow freely to all whom You have called to Yourself.
O Lord, let my cry be as that of David Your servant: “One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord And to meditate in His temple. For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; In the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock.”
My brothers and sisters, if this great King has awakened you to the reality of your sin, and by cords of tender love drawn you to the cross—to see His Son, Jesus, bleeding and dying in your place—then bow low before Him. Posture your heart and let it overflow in worship, for He alone is worthy of all praise and all glory.
His majesty is supreme. Jesus Christ has ascended into the courts of heaven, mediating on your behalf with those beautiful scars where His flesh was once torn. There He reigns until the appointed day when He will return for you and establish His kingdom in righteousness. On that day, all wickedness will be vanquished, all sin will be judged, and the unrighteous will bear the full weight of His justice.
O God, let us not seek good things for ourselves, nor let our pride become inflated so that we see only the work of our own hands and not the Spirit who empowers it. Keep us humble, O God. Move not with harsh blows, but deal gently with us, for we are but flesh—metal easily bent, like a tree tossed by the violent winds of a hurricane.
Guide us, O Lord, by Your Word. May the fruit produced in us by the work of the Holy Spirit be made manifest in our lives as evidence that we are anchored in Your mercy. May it rise as a sweet aroma—a sacrifice pleasing before Your throne, O God. Keep us, Lord, and let us not wander from the narrow path, lest we bring reproach upon Your holy name.
Help us, O God. We are a needy people—Your Church, redeemed by the blood of Christ, brought forth from iniquity into the light. We are Your bride, O God, purchased by Your precious blood, eagerly waiting for that day when our souls shall be perfected in Your presence, where we will dwell with You forever. O God of all mercies, please walk with us. Amen.
