The Refuge hosts self-defense classes

The art of selfdefense, while fun, is not just for sport. Learning just a few simple moves can increase the likelihood of surviving an attack. Even something as simple as holding your hands up a certain way while being attacked by a knife can save your life. The Ladies 4-week self-defense class led by Tae Kwon Do black belt and instructor of 20 years Cindy Nantz began on Friday July 13, 2018 at the Refuge. During the first class we learned that a shirt is more than just an article of clothing, it can change the course of an attack. We were taught one way to deter against someone charging us head on. We learned how to subdue an attacker that has us pinned. We were also shown one way to defend against an attacker with a knife. While there is no guarantee that these moves will save our lives, it is a far better thing to have some defense, than to have no chance. Cindy Nantz teaches Tae Kwon Do classes at Nantz Martial Arts located at 819 Cherry St. Graham, Texas 76450. For information on classes you can call 940-521-0100.
