Photographer Will Sadler donates photographs to help raise funds for Olney Community Library & Arts Center

Will Sadler, who is the photographer for the Olney Enterprise, was invited to be the fall artist for the Olney Community Library. Every fall, the Olney Community Library picks a local artist who shows their work such as paintings or photography.

Sadler, who has been in photography professionally for 10 years now and an amateur photographer for more than 30 years said he has been drawn to hobby as long as he could remember. “I originally wanted to be a photographer because my dad had a lot of National Geographic magazines, and I would always go through them and see all of the cool places and cool photos. I always wanted to be that person to travel all over the world to take those photos and hear those stories,” Sadler said.

Sadler’s favorite type of photography has always been macro as well as landscape. “One of my favorite things to photograph of course are the Cubs,” Sadler said. Will is an avid Cubs fan, going to every sporting event that he can no matter the sport or the team. Sadler never misses a football game, taking photos at every game as well as attending other sporting events such as volleyball, basketball, baseball and cross-country. He is a Cubs fan through and through.

One of the cool photos Sadler took will be taken by a local artist Sally Bernhart and put into her program, using a specific type of paint—turning the picture into a painting that she sends off to be printed on a canvas where she will then paint over the canvas. When she gets the photo back,  she will turn it into a painting photo hybridwhich will then be on full display at the library also.

“There are extra photo prints if anyone wants to donate $10 to the library, they can shoot a photo print that is not in a frame and then for a minimum bid of $20 or more they can choose a photo that is in a frame. Those can be paid for now and picked up mid-December with all funds going to help support the library,” Sadler said. This art show began Sept. 10 and will run through the middle of December.
