OCLAC Hosts 43rd Annual Pet Show

The Olney Community Library & Arts Center hosted the 43rd annual Pet Show on June 7 as part of its summer programming for children and their families. It was a family event and plenty showed up to enter their beloved family pets in the contest. All pets won an award for their unique qualities. Jameson Patterson [L] entered his pet turtle in the pet show and won the award, “Most Amazing Shell.” His brother Jack Patterson [R] entered his pet snake and was awarded “Most Slithery.” A few other categories included Best Pet Trick, Sweetest Pet, Most Mysterious, Most Bouncy, Most Carnivorous and many more categories.

Many community members got in volved: Judge Veronica Fobbs, Kelly Molina and Carla Inge registered participants and filled out certificates. The library’s student aide Cindy Rios DelGado helped with a scavenger hunt inside the library. Olney ISD maintenance, building and grounds personnel set up and took down tables and chairs and traffic cones and an awning.

Other events on the OCLAC calendar for June include: stories, crafts and games on June 16; Boocoos the Clown on June 21; stories, crafts, and games on June 23; Bernadette the Story Teller on June 28 and a movie showing on June 30. Events begin at 10 a.m. at the OCLAC with the exception of movies, which start at 1 p.m.
