At the Museum: Young County Historical Commission will meet at OHM Sept. 28; Children’s Museum features general store

Olney Heritage Museum (OHM) has been busy all summer with meetings, events and general patronage. The staff is grateful for support from the community and awaits more bookings for meetings, events, receptions, birthday parties, and just about anything you can think of that would be worth hosting at a place filled with historical artifacts and untold stories.

The OHM board and staff are excited to announce the upcoming meetings. The Young County Historical Commission will host its monthly meeting at Olney Heritage Museum Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. If you have questions about projects, or if you are interested in joining the commission, feel free to stop by before 10 a.m. to meet the members.

OHM is proud to be a resource to not only Olney schools, but also to all schools in the surrounding communities. On Oct. 25, the approximately 51 Olney ISD fourth-grade students and three teachers will visit OHM as part of their hands-on historical learning excursion. The Ft. Belknap Historical Association will be present to engage students with a historical reenactment in full costume.

As always, either all or at least one of the OHM docents: Ann Crumpton, Leatha Hirsh and Lisa Lunsford will be at the museum during the school’s visit to present background information on all exhibits and artifacts.

Please call OHM museum if you would like additional information about the current exhibits, or to make a donation. 940-227-4364.
