100 Years Ago - July 16, 1920

NOTICE – There is a kind of family reunion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L.S. Paschal of this city this week, there being as their guests, C.P. Paschal of Stone Point, Van Zandt County, Mr. Crip, of the same place; Mrs. Bettie Rats, of Weatherford; E.M. Paschal and family, of Cisco. This is the first time in fifteen or twenty years that these brothers and sisters have been together, and needless to say, they are having a most enjoyable reunion.

75 Years Ago – July 20, 1945

The Keys Purchase Goldsmith Residence

One of Olney’s nicest residences changed ownership this week when the Geo. A. Keys purchased the N.D. Goldsmith home, 507 West Elm. The residence, a two-story brick, was constructed in 1929 by N.D. Goldsmith. Possession of this property is to be given within the near future, according to a statement by Mr. Goldsmith who says he has made no definite plans as to a future home.

Church Group Sets Ice Cream Supper

The Missionettes of the Assembly of God Church are sponsoring an ice cream and cake supper at the city park tonight (Thursday) from 7:30 till 9. The supper is open to the public and funds raised will be used to further the mission program of the church.

Olney EMS Ambulance Service and the Texas Department of Health urge you and your family to “Buckle Up For Safety’s Sake!” Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of injury in America. Dr. David Smith, Texas Commissioner of Health, said, “in 1993, in Texas, more than 2,300 people were killed and more than 285,000 were injured in motor vehicle crashes. Motor vehicle crashes are one of the top five causes of injury and death in all age groups and the leading cause of injury and death between the ages of 16-20.”
