Lion’s Club to host annual hamburger supper

Each year, generous residents gather before the Olney Cubs homecoming game to enjoy a superb hamburger supper, complete with supper. Mark your calendar for Friday, October 5 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Olney ISD Cafetorium. You can join your friends and neighbors to “eat in”, or, if you prefer, “carry out” service is available.

Why a hambuger supper? As one can imagine, supporting the community requires an operating budget. The hamburger supper is the way we have our fundraiser.

The motto of Lion’s Club is, “We Serve”. The Olney Lion’s Club was chartered May 11, 1928, and has been supporting Lion’s Club International worldwide humanitarian efforts and local community needs ever since.

Over the years, your Olney Lion’s Club has provided financial support to the Olney Volunteer Fire Department, the Athletic Boosters, Band Boosters, Olney ISD’s eyeglasses for the needy and the elementary benevolent fund. We have provided assistance for the Tissue and Bank for corneas and skin grafts for local residents, collected used eyeglasses for recycling and sponored eligible kids to the world-famous Texas Lions Camp.

As small as we are, Olney Lion’s Club has been a powerhouse in the North Texas Region for providing an opportunity for scholarships and education diabetes and vision problems.

Becoming a Lion is a rewarding experience. Contact a Lion’s member to serve our community. Our meeting is every Tuesday at noon at Lawana’s Family Diner.
