Library to host annual pumpkin contest

The Olney Community Library is hosting their 38th annual Pumpkin contest this month.

The contest will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 10 and will end on Monday, Oct. 22. Entries may be dropped off at the library from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. No entries will be accepted after 5 p.m. on Oct. 22.

The contest will have five levels of competition. Group 1 comprises children in pre-school through 2nd grade who are unassisted by an adult (except in the case of hot glue application.) Group 2 comprises children in 3rd-5th grade, who are completely unassisted by an adult.

Group 3 comprises children in pre-school through 5th grade who are assisted by an adult or older sibling above 5th grade. Group 4 comprises students in 6th-12th grade, and Group 5 is the adult division.

Entries may be viewed between Wednesday, Oct. 10 and Thursday, Oct. 25, during normal library hours. Results will be announced on Thursday, Oct. 25.

Entries can be picked up on Oct. 25, 26 and 29. Any entries not picked up by 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 29 will be thrown away.
