Legion holds cornhole contest

The Olney American Legion Post 414 has really become the place to go for fun since Post Commander Chris Garcia began making improvements to the post and offering many activities for the community to enjoy. From concerts to market days to just a place to have good conversations over a beer with friends, the Legion is quickly becoming a focal point of gathering for the community.

The Post held its first “Thursday Throw Down Cornhole Tournament” in which competitors throw corn-filled beanbags into a hole on a board. John Schneider was on hand to help run the first of many tourneys. According to Mr. Schneider, the tourney will take place each Thursday for a $20 fee to help cover costs and provide prize money. The Legion will take a portion of each week’s proceeds to go towards future projects. Warm-up begins at 6 p.m. with tossing beginning at 7 p.m. For more information on the tourney or future Legion activities, please visit their Facebook page at American Legion Post 414, Olney, TX, or call 940-564-9383.
