Haven River Inn chapel construction has started

The chapel construction is underway at the historic Haven River Inn in Comfort, Texas just months after the groundbreaking ceremony that took place earlier this year in January. The goal is to have the chapel completed within the next three to six months.

Rev. Len Johnson, a Lamb’s Tale board member and project manager, said the construction delay is attributed to the rain as well as construction restrictions associated with guests at the Inn. “It is difficult to schedule the construction while guests have reserved the space for peace,” Johnson said. Despite the delays, the foundation has been built as illustrated in the photo, and the board remains hopeful for rapid completion.

“Fortunately, a lot of the work such as the building of the panels is completed off site. Once the materials are transported to the chapel site, construction will move quickly,” Johnson said.

The Haven River Inn, a renowned Hill Country bed-and-breakfast facility, is a Victorian-style mansion that has a capacity for 26 guests. There are four additional cottages with a capacity for 18 guests for a total capacity of 44.

The Haven River Inn offers a free two-night stay provided by Lamb’s Tale Ministry, to pastors and their spouses, to give them a moment to “Catch their Breath” as stated in the organization’s motto. Other guests pay to stay at the Inn located next to the Guadalupe River among sprawling oak trees.

Lamb’s Tale Ministries, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization provides respite care for those in full-time ministry and has a mission to allow them a time to reflect on their calling and have an opportunity to refresh their minds and souls.

The chapel project is part of the organization’s mission as a soul ministry that helps believers live out of the heart God gave them. The chapel facilitates stillness with God while providing a place for retreats, workshops, reunions, weddings and extraordinary worship experiences.

Perry’s Foundation in Olney provided the initial seed money and challenged other individuals and organizations to donate to the chapel project. For more information on Lamb’s Tale Ministry, visit www.LambsTale.org. For more information on Haven River Inn, visit www.HavenRiverInn.com.
