Fall Begins at Ingleside Ranch Pumpkin Patch

Growing up, it was a tradition to watch the annual TV special, “The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” go trick or treating and other fall activities like visiting the pumpkin patch, fellowshipping at the fall festival of the local church and maybe even a hay ride. These are all great ways to make memories with family and friends.

An autumn visit to the Pumpkin Patch at the Ingleside Ranch is turning into a tradition for many in Young County – and it’s Great Pumpkin time again! The Pumpkin Patch, located at 1030 RG Loop just south of Olney, is open the first three weeks of October on Saturdays from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Sundays 2 p.m.-6 p.m.

Kaci McClatchy Creel said this year they decided to not open for the weekend of Halloween so the family could enjoy fall festivities. Admission is $7 per person and children under 2 are free.

The Ingleside Ranch Pumpkin Patch event grew out of a simple idea by Kaci Creel to have a fun fall party for her daughter. From this simple event grew the idea to grow pumpkins and to have a pumpkin patch others could visit and began making fall memories, according to Ms. Creel. This year, guests may be able to purchase pumpkins at the ranch which range in price from $8-10 and smaller gourds for $1-2, and the pumpkins make a great backdrop for fall photos, she said.

“When the community comes out, we have several fun photo ops” she said. “Some are larger for families, some are smaller and cute like our pumpkin stand, but it looks like a little lemonade stand. This all started with a fun little party for my daughter in the fall where my dad and I decided we wanted to try growing pumpkins. It has gone from eight little mounds of pumpkins for a fun fall party for my daughter to having fun for all families.”

Ms. Creel said she especially enjoys “inviting everyone out to see where pumpkins come from and how pumpkins grow. “ Guests can “actually walk right out to the pumpkin patch and see how pumpkins are grown,” she said. “We have four generations on the ranch and we just love sharing our place with families in the community. We would love to invite everybody in the community to come out with your families to have fun with our family.”
