The first weekend in September will be a busy one. With everything from the Olney High School Homecoming activities to the car show, it will be hard to choose what to do, so choose everything.

Olney High School Homecoming Parade - Fri. Sept. 6 @ 4 p.m.

Plan to come out to show your support for the Cubs beginning with the homecoming parade and pep rally. The parade line-up is at 4 p.m. at the old Olney Savings Building on the corner of Main St. and Hwy. 79. The parade will start at 4:15 p.m.heading West on Main Street, then turning left at the Subway and ending at the Olney High School gym. After the parade, head inside the gym to help the cheerleaders fire up the Cubs at the pep rally. The pep rally is open to the entire community. All that cheering will certainly increase your appetite, so head on over to school cafeteria for the hamburger supper fundraiser sponsored by the Lion’s Club.

Lion’s Hamburger Supper - Fri. Sept 6, 5-7 P.M.

The Lion’s Club annual hamburger supper fundraiser is the perfect place to refuel after rallying the Cubs. You may purchase tickets from Lion’s club members in advance or at the door at the school cafeteria. The tickets cost $10 and includes a hamburger, chips and dessert.The proceeds help support the Olney Cubs.

The 11th Annual Olney Chamber of Commerce Show-N-Shine at the County Line Car Show & Cruise featuring Gravel Roads Band. - Sat., Sept 7 @ 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.

It’s here...finally! The car show brings in people from all the surrounding areas to show off their vehicles (cars, trucks, motorcycles, tractors and more).

Registration starts at 8 a.m. and car show at 9 a.m. The cruise will begin directly after the awards around 12:45 p.m. Contact Stacy Wade at 940-564-5445 for more information. The Department of State Health Services will be conducting an immunization clinic at the Olney Public Library on August 22nd, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.  

Vaccines are available for kindergarten, seventh grade and college entry.  Infant immunizations will be offered also.  Adult immunizations are available to those who qualify.  Bring your immunization records to the clinic.

 The Texas Dept. of State Health Services provides vaccines for those on Medicaid, no insurance, American Indian, Native Alaskan, and the under-insured. CHIPS, Medicare and private insurance are not accepted at this clinic. If your private insurance covers vaccines, you will be referred to your doctor. Parent or guardian must accompany minors.  VFC vaccines cost $10.00 per visit, with a maximum of $20.00 per household. Adult vaccines are $20.00 per visit for adults with no insurance.
