Council OKs new OHA board members

The Olney City Council approved new terms for three members of the Olney Housing Authority, including the reappointment of two existing board members and a new resident member.

Existing OHA board members Diana Kunkel and Shirley Jeter were appointed to new two-year terms beginning Oct. 1.

Bridget Spears filled the nearly expired term of resident member Celia Aleman, and was appointed to a new two-year term beginning Sept. 1.

Ms. Aleman resigned for health reasons, Rick Dinwiddie, director of OHA told the Council.

The housing authority board meets monthly to manage the city’s three affordable housing programs: Public Housing under the direction of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Highland West Apartments and Northside Apartments which are under the direction of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The OHA manages a total of 250 apartments located on nine sites throughout the city of Olney.
