The Cosby-Horton House

509 N. Avenue D., Olney, TX

In 1917, J.E. Harrell and wife Joye conveyed several lots in Block 6 of the Bloodworth Second Addition to Mrs. G.W. Cosby as her separate property.

In 1925, she sold some of the property (now 507 N. Ave. D) to J.H. Patrick, so the house at 509 N. Ave. D would have been built before that sale.

Mrs. Cosby’s husband died in 1930, and in 1945, she conveyed the house to G.H. Blewett and his wife Ima. The Blewett Family came to Megargel in the grain elevator business, came through Olney and ended in Ft. Worth.

In 1946, the Blewetts sold the property to William Raymond (1904-1972) Rogers and his wife Mary (1910-1988) (Watson), who married at Graham in 1928.

The Rogers are buried in the Markley Cemetery in Northeast Young County.
