City Council Meeting Highlights

City Council of Olney, Texas held a meeting on Monday, Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. The meeting began with the council considering the Tax Resale Bid, followed by considering action to advertise for sealed bids for the Cemetery Farm Lease, coming to a unanimous decision on the matter.

Next up was considering action on annual accounting contract with Edgin Parkman Fleming & Fleming, which was also approved, followed by action on the sale of New Hypertec Building #02 on E. Elm St.to Derek Choat, which was also approved.

 The council then went on to discuss the resolution to create an interest-bearing utility reinvestment fund account at Olney Interbank, followed by discussion concerning the agreement with Perdue Brandon Fielder Colllins & Mott for utility debt collection services. However, the main topic of conversation on the agenda was regarding the building commission. The council heard the report and recommendation from the code enforcement officer concerning code violations at 402 W. Hamilton St. and decided that the house is “inhabitable to humans.”.
