Life Happens
In life we have many good days, and of course there are some bad days. On those good days, I am reminded of the quote from Mr. Fred Rogers from the old children’s TV show —”it’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood”— when I feel excited about the activities of the day.
In the 1940’s there was an old song by the title of “Life Gets Teejus, Don’t It?” I listened to the old song as I wrote this. The words were very depressing. Sometimes our days are like that old song.
This year, 2024, has been the year of change in my life - rather “teejus” I would say. On March1, I found myself in the ER, and by 3 AM March 2nd, I was in the ER in Wichita Falls. On March 5, I had heart surgery where 2 stents were implanted. We would never want surgery, but a great doctor makes the difference.
One thing my doctors insist on … a lot of exercise. Exercise has never been my first priority, but we are fortunate that in our town we have a great facility to use - The Wellness Center. The doctor sent me there for therapy after my surgery, and I continue to take advantage of the facility as many others do.
Ronni Walker also offers a free, well rounded fitness program at the Refuge for all who wish to participate. We have no excuses for not keeping our physical being healthy.
I have always had multiple interests that keep my mind excited about my next project, whether it be art, photography, finishing my latest sewing project, or making plans for my next trip to experience the world around me.
I challenge you to keep busy with new adventures or completing that latest project. Let’s keep our mind active, our body moving, and just enjoy Mr. Rogers’ “beautiful day in the neighborhood!”
