“Free, Free”

“Free, Free”

“For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

Colossians 1:13-14 NASBS

Brothers and sisters in Christ, today be encouraged, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is powerful, for the pulling down of strongholds and setting the captives free. For we too were once held captive under the power of the evil one, and were enslaved by the power of sin. But now, through the power of Christ’s death, He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Yes, brothers and sisters, think about it for just a moment. We were once children of the devil, enemies of the most High, given over to vice and lust, haters of God, and insolent and depraved. Through our own ignorance, we shook our fist in the face of God. In our rebellion we entertained the demons of hell only seeking to fulfill our pleasures in Satan’s playground. The wrath of God hovered over us like a violent storm waiting to break out upon us at any moment. But God, being rich and merciful, awakened us from our dead estate. Through His divine mercy He allowed the gospel to shine into the dark caverns of our heart, illuminating the very evil that lurked within our deepest affections. By a divine miracle God allowed us to gaze into the window of our soul and by His grace we saw heinous acts of violence, the treachery of a immoralities, lying, cheating, murderous thoughts, and a heart that was filled with all types of abominations. It was then we cried aloud, “Wretched, Lord I am wretched, save me from this body of death!” As all hope was lost and our hearts began to sink into misery, The Holy Spirit, with sweet chords of love, led us to Calvary’s mountain. It is there He showed us God’s salvation hanging on the tree dying for the sins of the world. As we gazed upon God’s only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, suspended between heaven and earth bearing the wrath of God’s judgment, the Holy Spirit bid us to come to Christ and believe that He is The Messiah, the One Whom God sent into the world to save sinners from divine judgement. Then a miracle was worked upon our hearts and we confessed with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believed in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead. So we cast our burdens upon Him and a new song broke forth from our hearts, “Free, Free, at last I’ve been set free. My sins have been forgiven and cast upon Thee. Jesus Christ, the Lover of my Soul, has come and set me free.” Today, may the Lord lead you to the well of living water so that you may drink freely of the mercy of Jesus Christ and receive eternal salvation.
