Too Many Choices

Too Many Choices

I can be a very indecisive person at times. Just ask my husband. When he asks me to choose a restaurant, I will drive in circles thinking about which one to pick, just to inevitably pick the same one we always go to. The same thing goes for grocery shopping. I used to love grocery shopping, but lately it is becoming a bit more of a chore than an enjoyment. When did everything become so full of choices? I mean, yoghurt for example. There used to be around six flavors to choose from and now there are literally dozens. The same goes for coffee creamer. I will stand there looking through the glass door to the creamers trying to decide which one I want for the week (sometimes I leave with three different kinds because I couldn’t make up my mind). Wal-Mart especially, is an indecisive person’s nightmare.

Publisher’s Points to Ponder: Will Electric Cars Impact the Oil & Gas Industry?

General Motors Corp., one of the big four automakers, announced that it plans to shift to the production of electric cars (EVs) only by the year 2035. This announcement has pushed other U.S. automakers to step up with EV production. What does this mean for the oil and gas industry, which is a significant part of Texas’s economy?

Snow, ice, single-digit temps blanket the state Texans from Lubbock to Longview shivered under single-digit temperatures as their week began, with snow and ice creating dangerous road conditions throughout the state. Gov. Greg Abbott issued a disaster declaration for all 254 Texas counties and urged residents to stay alert to changing weather conditions. The Texas Division of Emergency Management deployed resources from various state agencies to prepare roadways, assist motorists, remove downed trees and perform search-andrescue operations if necessary.

DEVOTIONAL

I believe with all of my heart the historical account of God’s revelation found in the book of Genesis concerning the creation and the fall of man. Though there are many religions in this world that would oppose such a teaching as this, not to mention the greatest philosophers of our day, as well as the most sophisticated scientist, I will hang my entire life on the teachings of the Apostle Paul. One might well say, “Who are you?” And I will respond, “You are correct in your speaking, for I am no one.” But to be honest, in all humility, I would rather be counted as the least of my day, a name to never be remembered in my generation, a person of the least interest, than to make a claim against The Holy Scriptures. For I am not concerned about you merely hearing my words or my thoughts. But if you believe the words of the Apostle, as I myself, concerning the dead estate of all humanity which brought forth the redemptive plan of salvation in Jesus Christ, then you, my friend, are not close from the Kingdom of God.

Love Shows Up

One evening when I was about fifteen years old, my mom and I walked into the house after a school field trip. My dad had left a message on the answering machine: my mom’s grandmother had “an episode with her heart,” he said. My mother didn’t say a word. She turned around, purse still on her shoulder, and headed for the car. I followed her quietly.
